On the 27th of November 2016 it was about time: My first trip to ASIA finally came true. Our first goal was Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. And to be honest, I didn’t know what to expect, because Vietnam has never been a country I focused that much on, but the more happy I am right now, that we didn’t “only” visit Thailand but got ready to discover Vietnam.
Where to start? Vietnamese people are just wonderful: Really friendly, always ready to help and quite open. Most people can’t speak English but they always try to help. What I really like ist that you never see a person with a negative face expression, everyone seems so free of stress and problem… what a dream!
But the people there are extremely brave lol: It’s just so krass how they drive around with their scooters. No one seems to care for the traffic regulations, also as a pedestrian you have to be self-confident and not afraid of crossing the street..otherwise “you will lose”.
We spend the first night in the Hanoi L’Heritage Hotel located in the Hoan Kiem District, which was directly in the city centre and quite loud, but I guess that’s everywhere in Hanoi, because the fearless scooter-drivers make their way by constantly blowing their horns. In the evenings they alos love to sit outside the restaurants, which I really like but that will make you have to walk on the street.
Have you ever been to Vietnam? I would definitely tell you to go and discover what a really wonderful place it is. I learn so much by discovering new cultures, but mostly, I love that I see that we as people aren’t so different from each other as we might have thought.
